CPMC’s Hepatitis B Screening Project Inspires Giving

I encourage everyone to stand up and give
Seraphin Co, R.N., BSN, CPMC Davies Emergency Department nurse

Few know better than our physicians and nurses the need for comprehensive preventive care for our community. In addition to his commitment as a staff nurse for 12 years in the Emergency Department at CPMC’s Davies Campus, Seraphin Co, R.N., BSN also invests his money in our mission: Since 2009 he has been giving through employee payroll deductions to CPMC’s Hepatitis B Screening Project.

Partnering with the San Francisco Department of Health and CPMC Foundation donors like Seraphin, this project screens more than 800 city residents each year in Asian, Pacific Islander, and other at-risk populations. Without proper diagnosis and appropriate medical care for this silent virus, 20 to 30 percent of these individuals could develop cirrhosis and/or liver cancer.

For Seraphin, CPMC’s Employee Giving Program is the most effective and easiest way of making a regular commitment to a service that is important to him while also giving back to his community.

“Charitable gifts directly expand the scope of essential health programs like the Hepatitis B Free Screening ProjectOpens new window,” he says. “I encourage everyone to stand up and give whatever they can.”
