Meet the Chair and Vice Chair of CPMC Foundation's Board of Trustees
Sloan Barnett, Chair
Sloan Barnett joined CPMC Foundation’s Board of Trustees in 2006. As of 2014 Sloan served as Co-Chair, and was appointed Chair in 2017. Sloan is the author of the New York Times best-selling book, “Green Goes with Everything: Simple Steps to a Healthier Life and a Cleaner Planet,” which outlines how the next wave of green is about the health of our families in addition to the health of our planet.
Sloan was a television and print journalist for over 10 years, appearing as a consumer and green topics expert for NBC's Today Show, PBS, Reuters, and Fox, and writing for the New York Daily News.
She began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in New York. Sloan is also a member of the Board of Trustees for her alma mater, the New York University School of Law, and of the Leadership Council of the Harvard School of Public Health.
Ken Novack, Vice Chair
Kenneth M. Novack joined the Board of Trustees in 2014 and is Vice Chair as of 2017. Ken serves on the Executive, Finance and Grants & Disbursements Committees and is a member of the Research & Education Leadership Council. He has been the President of Schnitzer Investment Corp. since 2009. He is the former Chairman of Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc.; former Chairman and CEO of Schnitzer Investment Corp.; former Chairman of Liberty Shipping Group; former Chairman and CEO of Lasco Shipping Co.; and former Partner of Ball, Janik & Novack (now Ball Janik LLP).
All told, Ken has served on more than 30 notable boards and commissions, including the boards of Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon.
