Background
Todd Frederick, M.D. is a hepatologist with the San Francisco Center for Liver Disease at California Pacific Medical Center. He serves as Director of Quality and Clinical Protocols for the division. Dr. Frederick completed his fellowship in gastroenterology/hepatology, and his internal medicine residency at UCSD. He received his M.D. from New York Medical College. He has lectured on the management of advanced liver disease, artificial liver support systems and portal hypertension, among other topics. Dr. Frederick’s research interests include the pathophysiology of portal hypertension, management of complications of advanced liver disease, and artificial liver support systems. He is proficient in basic Spanish. Dr. Frederickis board-certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and transplant hepatology.

I find that listening to patients goes a long way. I try to educate as well as treat patients so that they may participate more in their own care. Patient trust and confidence is crucial for a therapeutic relationship.
