Celebrating a Half Century of Service

Founded in 1964, The Women’s Board of CPMC Foundation stages the annual San Francisco Debutante Ball to benefit a different area of CPMC each year. In 50 years, the board has generated nearly $5 million for patient care in a variety of ways.

“Participation in the Ball gives the debutantes, and their families and escorts, the opportunity to learn about the vital functions of the hospital and important role of philanthropy,” says Women’s Board President Jennifer Biederbeck. “We believe the impact extends far beyond the immediate funds raised.”

In 2013, the proceeds helped fund an ultrasound machine for Pediatric Emergency Care, a ventilator for the NICU and a new online database for pediatric treatment called PEMSoft.

“At the bedside, ultrasound is becoming the standard of pediatric emergency care in cases from IV line placement to the quick diagnosis of life-threatening conditions,” says Vincent Tamariz, M.D. “We are thankful to be able to offer this to our pediatric patients.”
