Specialized Pediatric IBD Center Services
Individualized Treatment Plans
Our specialists have deep expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of IBD. From initial testing through long-term disease management, patients receive individualize care from a multi-disciplinary team of physicians, a nurse practitioner, dietitian and social worker.
Medical Treatment
Medical treatment for inflammatory bowel disease includes medications to control inflammation, relieve symptoms and improve quality of life. While medications aid in symptom relief, nutritional supplements, probiotics and vitamins may help reduce inflammation and restore nutrients lost from poor appetite, reduced absorption and diarrhea.
Nutritional Consultation
Dietitians with an expertise in pediatric nutrition meet regularly with patients and their families to monitor progress and provide guidance for a healthy diet. With conditions such as celiac disease, in which there is no medical treatment, the dietitian provides education regarding foods to avoid while ensuring an adequate diet.
Psychosocial and Psycho-educational Services
Social Workers are an integral part of the team. They provide psychosocial assessments and counseling, supporting the patient and family with tools for coping with the psychosocial impact of living with a chronic condition, information and referral to diagnosis-specific resources, community support and information about how to access financial resources.
