Why Choose CPMC

Each year approximately 700 thousand people experience a new or recurrent stroke, making stroke the number one cause of disability and the number three cause of death in America today. Stroke, also known as cerebrovascular accident, if identified early, can be medically or surgically treated with great success and many patients who receive early treatment have no residual affects from stroke. Additionally, persons who experience a "warning” or "mini-stroke" with stroke-like symptoms but no lasting damage, called a transient ischemic attack (TIA), can decrease their risk for experiencing a serious episode by recognizing and treating TIAs through outpatient intervention. Receiving service at a Joint Commission Certified Primary Stroke Center from highly trained specialists greatly increases the chances of full recovery.

And choosing a center awarded the American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines Silver (Annual) Achievement Award ensures that stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations. What these accomplishments mean for our patients is that we go beyond medicine to make exceptional efforts and follow national standards, guidelines, and protocols that can significantly improve long-term outcomes for stroke patients.
