Cerebral Aneurysm

Modern surgical options for treating cerebral aneurysms have vastly improved patient outcomes and recovery. Micro-neurosurgical clipping blocks the blood flow at the aneurysm neck using a tiny titanium clip, while endovascular coil embolization is a newer technique that eliminates aneurysms through tiny microcatheters using platinum microcoils.
Whether clipping or coiling is the better procedure for a given patient is a sophisticated medical decision requiring expert evaluation. At medical centers providing both clipping and coiling, the procedures are not commonly performed by the same practitioner. Currently fewer than 75 practitioners nationwide combine these expertises. California Pacific Medical Center is proud to be one of the facilities with a practitioner who combines these two disciplines for treating of cerebrovascular disorders.
