Dr. Charles S. Cobbs, a neurosurgeon and a neuro-oncologist, as well as a primary brain tumor clinical researcher with CPMCRI, is board-certified in neurosurgery. Dr. Cobbs completed his medical training at the University of Alabama School of Medicine and UCSF. He has a special interest in brain tumors and cancer biology with possible role of viral agents in cancer and brain cancer clinical research. Under the direction of Charles S. Cobbs, M.D., basic science research conducted through the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute (CPMCRI) is seeking to find the cause of malignant gliomas, the most lethal central nervous system tumors. Leading the way in finding brain tumor treatments, Dr. Cobbs has established one of only brain tumor stem cell tissue banks on the West Coast. Based on his findings, here at California Pacific, Duke University and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, brain tumors are currently being treated using antiviral therapies.
