Microsurgery Research

Microsurgical research has opened the door to tremendous interest and success in the clinical applications of digital replantation, and tissue transplantation and reconstruction. It has transformed microsurgery from a medical curiosity to an accepted and sought after technology. Dr. Buncke and his colleagues have published over 400 clinical and research articles.

The Microsurgical Replantation - Transplantation Foundation, affiliated with California Pacific Medical Center, was instituted to support the innovative work done at the Harry J. Buncke Microsurgery Laboratory under the directorship of Harry J. Buncke, M.D.

Over the past thirty years, the Harry J. Buncke Microsurgical Laboratory has trained hundreds of Fellows and Residents, and engaged in and published hundreds of research projects and papers.

The motto of the Microsurgical Laborary is, "Ideas are cheap, but results are priceless."

The productivity of the Laboratory and all the projects are supported by the participation of the Research and Clinical Fellows as well as the attending microvascular surgeons.
