Black and White Photographs by Nancy Chee

Nancy Chee's photographs of Dr. Harry Buncke and the Microsurgery Team are an accumulation of work begun in 1991 and represent the many aspects of care given by the microsurgeon.

The photographs follow care - from surgery and post operative care, to office follow up and discharge. They show the various activities of surgeons as well as the intensity and emotions of physicians and their work.

As a hand therapist, Nancy Chee is given the opportunity to enter the operating room. Nancy graduated from Tufts University in 1982 with a bachelor of science degree in occupational therapy and is a Certified Hand Therapist. She has worked full time as an occupational therapist since 1987 at California Pacific, initially in Rehabilitation and now specializing in the area of Hand Therapy.

Technical Information
All the photographs were taken with available light only using the Nikon FM2 camera. Film used was Tri-X 400 (developed in D-76) or at 1600 (using Acufine). Nancy's style of photography uses form and light to create the aesthetic and emotional balance of the moment, using chiaroscuro technique.
