    Dear Participant:

Thank you for taking part in our California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) HepB Free campaign which is aimed at increasing awareness and stopping the spread of hepatitis B. Your test results indicate that you are:

    1. Hepatitis B Surface Antigen: NON-REACTIVE

A non-reactive Hepatitis B surface antigen test means you are NOT INFECTED with the hepatitis B virus.

    2. Hepatitis B Surface Antibody: NON-REACTIVE

A non-reactive hepatitis B surface antibody test means you are NOT PROTECTED against hepatitis B.
Based on these results, you are neither infected with hepatitis B nor are you protected against it. If you believe you are at risk of exposure to hepatitis B or have a family history of liver cancer or liver disease, we strongly recommend that you be vaccinated against hepatitis B. Asians, Pacific Islanders, Alaskan natives and people born in Africa are at highest risk of contracting hepatitis B. Vaccination will protect you from getting hepatitis B in the future. The hepatitis B vaccination is a series of 3 injections over a period of 6 months. It is very safe and effective, and will provide you with a lifetime of protection from this very dangerous infection.

Please contact your primary care physician at your earliest convenience to share these results and comments, and to request hepatitis B vaccination.

If your regular doctor does not provide vaccination, or if there is significant cost, you can visit our CPMC Liver Disease & Transplant Clinic located at 2340 Clay Street (3rd floor) in San Francisco every Wednesday from 4pm – 6pm and we will vaccinate you. No appointment is necessary. You will be asked to provide a deposit of $60 for the vaccination series. After you receive your 3rd and final shot, your deposit will be fully refunded. Your vaccinations can therefore be free! However, if you do not complete all 3 vaccinations within the prescribed timeframes, your deposit will be forfeited and used to offset our costs.

Please bring this letter as a verification of your test results and PLEASE GET VACCINATED!

If you have any questions regarding your hepatitis B test or test results, please contact us by email at mach@sutterhealth.org or by phone at 415-600-1360.
