Patient Stories - Heart Failure & Transplant Program
Harlin Weatherford
Dealing with the possibility of a heart transplant is very upsetting, to say the least. What I learned through this whole experience is the importance of “how we were treated.” It makes all the difference when dealing with crushing news. From the moment we met Dr. Haeusslein in Redding, we were impressed with his professional skill as well as willingness to take time with us and make us feel like a person, not a number. He made us feel genuinely cared for and important.
His office contacted us many times before we went to San Francisco for the transplant evaluation. The transplant staff was always courteous and professional, and “always returned my phone calls.” They sent us all the information needed to make reservations at nearby hotels and how to get to the hospital as easily as possible, even to the point of where to park.
We were very impressed with the scheduling of two full days of evaluation testing. We didn’t wait for appointments. In the entire two days we never encountered anyone who was impatient or inefficient. We were amazed that a difficult experience could actually be turned into a pleasant experience.
Truly we would recommend Dr. Haeusslein and his staff as first class.
