The IES research program consists of pre-clinical and clinical trials as well as outcome studies. New endoscopic technology is thoroughly evaluated in the pre-clinical setting using simulator models like the Erlangen simulator. Dr. Binmoeller uses this model to test the technical functionality of new devices. We utilize other types of models to evaluate biological variable such as injury and healing. Outcome studies are conducted on the impact of interventional endoscopy on treatment strategy, quality of life, and cost of health care.
The IES research agenda is outlined in Research Currents 2001.

For our current gastroenterology and interventional endoscopy clinical trials visit the Research Web site.
