    CPMC appoints new Chief Medical Executive

    San Francisco, CA - August 5, 2013 - California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) today announced the appointment of Vernon Giang, M.D. to the position of Chief Medical Executive. He will be responsible for providing leadership for the design and development of programs to enhance the provision of medical care, including clinical integration and the use of electronic health records, on all four CPMC campuses.

    “Dr. Vernon Giang has a strong history of leadership, strategic planning, and operational skills,” said CPMC CEO Warren Browner, M.D., MPH. “I am pleased to announce his appointment and welcome him to the senior management team at CPMC.”

    Prior to his appointment, Dr. Giang served as the President and Medical Director of the Pacific Inpatient Medical Group (PIMG), the group of hospitalists who provide inpatient coverage at CPMC. Dr. Giang also served as the treasurer of the CPMC Medical Staff. He is a graduate of the UC Davis School of Medicine, and completed his residency and chief residency in internal medicine at CPMC. While a resident, he won both the Francis Rigney Award as outstanding intern and the Dwight Wilbur Award as outstanding graduating resident. He and his wife, Joy, are residents of San Francisco and avid travelers.
