More than 160 physicians at California Pacific Medical Center have been named on the prestigious list of Best Doctors in America®.
The list, created by Best Doctors, Inc., results from intensive polling of more than 45,000 physicians in the United States. Doctors in more than 400 subspecialties of medicine appear on this year’s list. In a confidential review, physicians were asked to answer the question, “If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer?”
"It’s always gratifying to be named as one of the best doctors in your area of specialty,” says Warren Browner, MD, MPH, CEO of CPMC. "But to be named to the list by your peers who really understand what goes into being a great doctor is the ultimate accolade. To have so many CPMC doctors on the list shows why we are considered one of the best hospitals in the U.S. and why we have such an excellent reputation for high quality, compassionate care."
Only 5 percent of the physicians in the U.S. make the Best Doctors list. Because physicians cannot pay to be included on the list, nor are they paid to provide their input, the Best Doctors list has a well-deserved reputation for independence and impartiality. The list is a product of validated peer review, in which only doctors who excel in their specialties are chosen.

California Pacific Medical Center. Beyond Medicine. At San Francisco’s California Pacific Medical Center, we believe in the power of medicine. We research the most up-to-date treatments, hire the most qualified individuals, and practice the most modern, innovative medicine available. We deliver the highest quality expert care, with kindness and compassion, in acute, post-acute and outpatient services, as well as preventive and complementary medicine. But we also believe that medicine alone is only part of the solution. That’s why we look intently at each individual case and treat the whole person, not just the illness. It’s why we go beyond medical care and provide our patients with things like disease counseling, family support and wellness treatments. As one of California’s largest private, community-based, not-for-profit, teaching medical centers, and a Sutter Health affiliate, we are able to reach deep into our community to provide education, screening and financial support in some of the city’s most underserved neighborhoods. Medicine can transform a body. But going beyond medicine can transform a life.
