California Pacific’s Breast Health Center serves nearly 50 thousand women annually performing screening and diagnostic mammography, screening breast ultrasound, as well as, ultrasound-guided, stereotactic, and needle localization breast biopsies, and ultrasound-guided breast cyst aspiration.

Going Digital

The Breast Health Center’s analog mammography machines were recently replaced with new digital machines, meaning we have eliminated X-ray films and all mammogram images are acquired electronically. Digital mammography images of higher resolution can be enhanced, magnified, or manipulated, helping physicians detect breast cancers earlier. The electronic images are immediately displayed on a computer screen and read by the radiologist. There is no waiting for film development, equating to a shorter time patients need to spend in the center for both screening and diagnostic exams.

Newly Designed Space

The Breast Health Center has also expanded, building three additional examination rooms and an adjoining waiting room on the first floor of the 3698 California Street campus. The waiting room is designed to foster relaxation and calm, painted in warm, soothing colors with indoor water fountains creating tranquil visuals and sounds. The recessed lighting mimics natural daylight.

Mammogram Examination Suites

The mammogram examination suites have been individually designed, each having a distinct theme. One suite is designed in a tropical island theme, another as an English country garden, and the third captures the reflection of the sky on the ocean.

The institutional hospital gowns have been replaced with soft cotton robes helping patients further relax, reducing the fear and anxiety many times associated with mammography.

Have You Had Your Mammogram?

The American Cancer Society recommends annual screening mammograms for all women after age 40. If you are 40 or older, or have found any changes in your breasts, make an appointment with your primary care provider today for a clinical examination and talk to them about scheduling a screening mammogram.
