Nuclear Medicine Opens New Location With New Technology
California Pacific’s Nuclear Medicine Department has moved to the second floor of the Pacific Campus. Our remodeled facility is equipped with state-of-the-art imaging technology and is easily accessible for both patients and physicians.
Advanced Technology
New imaging technology includes GE Medical System’s Discovery PET/CT scanner. This system integrates a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner with a 64-slice Computer Tomography (CT) scanner capable of producing 2D, and 3D images. Combined imaging capabilities are designed to assist physicians diagnose and localize cancers faster with pinpoint precision. The PET/CT has sophisticated software for respiratory-gated studies allowing direct interface with Radiation Oncology’s 4D treatment planning system. 4D imaging offers real-time viewing of the anatomy in motion for more precise tumor contour visualization.
Images and reports are available on the PACS system for convenient review by referring physicians on-site or in their office The PET/CT provides seamless integration with radiation oncology further enhancing our ability to treat malignancies. The system is also capable of neurology diagnostics and non-invasive cardiac imaging.
The PET/CT imager is designed with the patient in mind. The large bore size (70cm) accommodates patients of all shapes and sizes and the shorter tunnel length (100 cm) lessens claustrophobic anxiety. The imaging rooms are large, roomy, and aesthetically pleasing.
These advanced imaging capabilities demonstrate California Pacific’s commitment to innovation and technology. We provide our physicians with the tools necessary for early disease detection. These tools, when combined with improved diagnosis and prompt treatment, can save patients’ lives.
