California Pacific Stroke Care Center Opens

California Pacific Medical Center is pleased to announce the opening of our outpatient Stroke Care Center.

"Adults with cerebrovascular disease can now take comfort in knowing that expert brain care is now available," says David Tong, M.D. the Stroke Care Center’s medical director. "Stroke is the most common cause of disability in the U.S., and the third leading cause of death," he notes. "Forming a specialized program dedicated to the prevention, early diagnosis, and optimal treatment of this devastating brain disease provides an important service for California Pacific patients." The Care Center is staffed by a team of neurological, neuroradiologic, and rehabilitation experts specializing in the evaluation and management of individuals with stroke and cerebrovascular diseases. It provides comprehensive care to patients whether they have suffered a stroke, a transient ischemic attack (TIA), or are at risk for these disorders, helping with disease management and reducing the risk of future events.

Prior to opening the Care Center, Dr. Tong was an Associate Professor of Neurology at Stanford University Medical Center, and worked for over 10 years at the Stanford Stroke Center in Palo Alto, California. He completed his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas, and his subsequent specialty training in Neurology and cerebrovascular disease at Stanford.
